MORNING UPDATE:
RIGHT TO LIFE TO ENDORSEES...let's play ball. Democrat or Republican, you made a commitment to support the sanctity of life...no more gamesmanship for the House Democrats who "claim" to be for life. It's a showdown...I hope everyone is watching. Late-term Partial Birth Abortion is a gruesome procedure that should be banned.
CONGRESSMAN MIKE ROGERS...has a specific energy plan that can help Michigan be the leader in the auto industry as well. Press release below and YouTube video here.
DRILL HERE. DRILL NOW. PAY LESS...Newt Gingrich discusses the politician driven energy crisis where Democrats refuse to allow America to rid itself on it's dependence on foreign oil and energy. Please sign Newt's petition and help drive this issue to the top of America's agenda. It's time to stand up and fight!
SENATOR FRED THOMPSON...writes a great article entitled The Death of Conservatism is Greatly Exaggerated.
31,000 U.S. SCIENTISTS QUESTION GLOBAL WARMING...Arthur B. Robinson, president and professor of chemistry at the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, said global warming is not a threat to America. He said that the global temperature increased by just .5 degrees in the last century.
Robinson spoke about his petition signed by 31,000 U.S. scientists who reject the claims that "human release of greenhouse gases is damaging our climate."
"World temperatures fluctuate all the time," said Robinson. "The temperature of the Earth has risen many times, far more times than carbon dioxide could drive it. There is no experimental evidence that humans are changing the environment..."
ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE...NUCLEAR POWER...America wants peace and prosperity. We need to become less dependent on foreign oil and have more domestic sources of power. Cheap, reliable and affordable energy will change the world. More below.

THE REST OF THE STORY:
PRESS RELEASE: Rogers: ‘America Can Declare Energy Independence'
Congressman Unveils Legislation, Webpage, YouTube Video
MONDAY, May 26, 2008 - U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, says America has the ability to declare its energy independence from overseas oil, and he has a comprehensive plan to do that.
"If we come together as a nation, we could stop importing overseas oil by 2015, and protect America's national security, lower gasoline and home heating prices, create jobs and protect the environment," said Rogers, who has introduced a legislative plan, H.R. 6161, that would lift the nation over the hurdle of depending on oil from nations that do not want America to succeed. "We could have our own Declaration of Energy Independence on July 4, 2015."
Rogers will talk about the future of American energy and our path to energy independence to students at three mid-Michigan schools on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27 and 28. He will show the students an upbeat, detailed webpage that is serious about how we make ourselves energy independent, using today's technology to make Rogers' points with a touch of humor.
The webpage and YouTube launch on Tuesday morning outlines Rogers' plan which offers some unique new ways and refreshes some existing ideas. For example, one provision would establish tax incentives to consumers to get older vehicles off the road and replace them with new, more fuel efficient cars and trucks.
Rogers will outline his ideas in the Tuesday and Wednesday discussions with students who are learning now about such fields as robotics, solar energy, and automotive technology. Rogers will answer questions about how his energy independence plan deals with building nuclear power plants; spending money on efforts to overcome climate change instead of continuing to study it; and finding domestic oil supplies in environmentally friendly ways.
- NUCLEAR POWER...is the world's largest source of emission-free energy. Nuclear power plants produce no controlled air pollutants, such as sulfur and particulates, or greenhouse gases. The use of nuclear power in place of other energy sources helps to keep the air clean, preserve the Earth's climate, avoid ground-level ozone formation and prevent acid rain.
Nuclear power has important implications for our national security. Inexpensive nuclear power, in combination with fuel cell technology, could significantly reduce our dependency on foreign oil.
Nuclear power plants have experienced an admirable safety record. About 20% of electricity generated in the U.S. comes from nuclear power, and in the last 40 years of this production, not one single fatality has occurred as a result of the operation of a civilian nuclear power plant in the United States. In comparison, many people die in coal mining accidents every year and approximately 10,000 Americans die every year from pollution related to coal burning.

Michigan needs competent generals
As we return to Mackinac Island for the Detroit Regional Chamber's annual palaver, we must face that at every level of government, our political leadership is no match for the frightful forces confronting Michigan. We've got lousy generals.
Paul Egan / The Detroit News

LSJ Editorial: Phone use in cars distracts, but case for ban not made
If Michigan drivers don't know this already, they should: Driving while using a cell phone is a habit to limit. The limitation, though, should come from private individual action, not from another legal mandate from the state.
