Remembering Martin Luther King

Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.

Lansing, MI – Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saulius “Saul” Anuzis issued the following statement today in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King:

“We pause today and reflect on the legacy of Martin Luther King.  Dr. King believed that there would come a day when men and women of all races and nationalities would be judged on their merits, not the color of their skin.

“The work of Dr. King reminds us that freedom is our most precious gift, and one we must defend each and every day.  It is our duty to make sure that our children live a better and more peaceful life than we have.  Dr. King said, “the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”  We stand, as a state and a nation mired in challenge and controversy.  Let history remember us as more than up to the task.”
