Articles of Interest 6-13-06

More polls…there’s only one poll that counts and that will be in November.

We like the trend…it continues to show Dick DeVos gaining among Michigan voters…but the Governor…I’m mean the state is running all these feel good ads in Michigan to improve economic development and encourage tourism….you see, folks in Michigan need an ad campaign to tell us about Michigan???

EPIC/MRA released another poll yesterday that shows Dick DeVos ahead of Jennifer Granholm by 8 points.  I wish it were true…but reality is not something the Democrats have been known for.  The Governor continues to live in a “state of denial” and my concern is that the Democrat politicos are setting us up for a surprise comeback.

First, they have Granholm ONLY getting 60% of the vote in Detroit…I believe in miracles, but even with double digit unemployment, the Governor’s dismal record on helping Detroit and all the gamesmanship the Granholm machine has tried in Detroit can’t be enough damage to convince the average Detroiter to vote against Granholm?

Maybe the Governor is trying to use this poll to boost her fundraising.  She has to supplement her use of taxpayer dollars, her super secret Partnership for Progress, union funds, party funds and campaign funds raised to date.

The bottom line is that this poll is not consistent with other numbers we have seen.  So we’re excited by the prospects, but political reality tells us that this is going to be a close election, an uphill battle all the way to the end…so don’t let the Dems fool anyone into believing anything else.

Fun fact:  The media is claiming that the DeVos for Governor committee has spent nearly $5 million on their campaign so far…and the Dems are throwing out all kinds of numbers to scare their donors into giving.

In 2002, the Granholm for Governor committee had filed that they had receipts of $5,714.973.64….and had spent $5,428,560.65 by July 28, 2002.

Granholm spent OVER $5,000,000 by July of 2002.  Put that in perspective?

The Granholm campaign is playing games with the numbers….they are throwing out polling numbers that meet their needs…they are throwing out fundraising and spending numbers that meet “their” needs…don’t be fooled again.

None of these numbers include her Partnership for Progress or independent union moneys that are being spent on her behalf.

Just an fyi…

Notes from Jane:  Great news….Jane has started posting a periodic update on her activities and then some thoughts about what is happening both politically and in the world.  This will be a great addition to our blog and I encourage you to watch for it on a regular basis.  For her latest blog posting please visit:

Lunchbucket Conservative has another great post, doing an analysis of the USA Today article about how the Democrats are starting to worry about Michigan! Well, they haven’t seen anything yet…for his post go to:

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman will be traveling through our state on June 27th, 28th and 29th to help us build further on our grassroots organization, and as a special favor, he's agreed to meet with our "Dollar-A-Day" Club members who provide the financial foundation to make it all possible. We need your help. For more information go to:

One more surprise (kind of), U.S. Representative Jim Moran (D-VA) has made it public that if the Democrats re-take control of the House this November, he plans on increasing political earmarks. According to comments Moran made at the Arlington County Democratic Committee's annual Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner, “When I become chairman [of a House appropriations subcommittee], I'm going to earmark the sh-t out of it.”

I  find the remarks reprehensible. I call on Debbie Stabenow to denounce this outburst of, I guess, candor. We knew the Democrats were desperate to gain power, but now we know why. They just can’t wait to get their hands on our money.

Democrats unplugged…unhinged…we can’t afford to put the Democratic tax and spend politicians back in office.  Take a stand…do nothing Debbie needs to go!
